Meet New Friends Best Places To Meet People

What are the best places to meet people is a question that is asked over and over. You may be looking for that special someone but don’t know where to go to meet him or her.

The common thought seems to be that the best places to meet people are bars. Well, if you are looking for drunk people, a bar is the best place to go. But if you want to meet nice, friendly, non-drunk people you will have to go other places. For example, there are probably non-drunk people where you work and if you work in a large company there are probably people there you don’t know. Take the time to seek these people out and introduce yourself.

If you are somewhat, or even a lot, shy consider a sports team as a way to meet people. If you enjoy playing on a team great, if playing isn’t your thing then volunteer to help organize an event such as a charity run or any other number of fund raisers in your community. If you need help finding a place to volunteer contact your local United Way office or community volunteer center. These organizations are always looking for help.

Join a civic organization that supports programs you have an interest in. Here you will meet people who share your interests and you will at the same time be supporting your community.

Visit the local coffee shop on a regular basis just to hang out. Force yourself to strike up a conversation with at least one person before you head home. Keep up with current events so that you will always have something to chat about.

If money is not an issue consider taking a guided tour somewhere you have never been. Be sure to ask your travel agent about tours that specifically target singles. If you don’t connect with someone on the trip at least you will have some new experiences to share when you return home.

If you are a single parent, get involved with activities at your child’s school. Now this may not be what your child will find good, but you will be meeting lots of people.  Schools, like other organizations are always looking for volunteers particularly through the PTA.

The best place to meet people is to go where the people are. If you are shopping go to the sections where your desired target would be. If you are a man, head for the kitchen gadget store. Since so many men are into cooking, no woman would find this strange. In fact, for most women, knowing a man can cook would be like finding a rare jewel. If you are a woman, head for the sporting goods section or store. I heard of a woman who met a great guy while he was shopping for fishing equipment. Did she fish? No way!  Did he care that she wasn’t into fishing? Not at all! The point is: be willing to take a risk and start a conversation. You never know what will happen.

You probably see many people every day and may often pass by them without even noticing them. From now on make it a point to smile and greet everyone you meet. You never know, one or those just may be your future soul mate.
